Introduction
Wow! So many wonderful announcements! Just kidding . . . this isn't a real fund. Those aren't even relevant announcements; they're just to boost the SEO of The Chess Fund. No I definitely am not doing this so I don't feel left out from all the fund managers in the tech community. No, I don't have any GPs or LPs. Damn it, nor GMs. Nor IMs (@gothamchess?). I just have the legendary Rohit Rustagi. If you've been on this site for long enough, you know I've already ran through that joke 10X times. Damn it, this fund can't even 10X. Anyways, back to topic. What on earth is The Chess Fund? Well, just recently, I launched a post on my personal website regarding the same topic: https://www.aaronbai.org/post/introducing-the-chess-fund Feel free to give it a read to get all caught up. And no, I didn't expect you to read it so here's the TLDR: I kept losing to the legendary Rohit Rustagi. I want to get better. It's hard without taking real courses / hiring an instructor. I'm running a ramen-stage start-up so neither do I have the time nor money for those. So I decided to document my progress publicly with the Chess Fund. I'll be building a portfolio of self-taught lessons, reflections, and documentation.
Fund 1
So what is Fund 1? I've decided to divide my portfolio into funds based on my ELO rating. Fund 1 will include all of my blog posts when my Rapid ELO is between 500-1,000 (right now it is 779). Future funds will include Blitz, Bullet, and higher ELO scores.
The reason why this fund is so critical — just like a real fund — is that I need to build the right foundations. This is the time when bad habits can stall you. Poor management will crumble the fund. Not enough dedication will make you lose out when the time matters. So on and so forth.
The only thesis here is to "Do Things That Help You Win".
Conclusion
So there you go! Now you know why I've decided to become the solo GP — no GM — no. Just the solo blogger of the Chess Fund. If you want to follow along, here's my other social medias: Twitter: https://twitter.com/aaronbaii
